August 14, 2019 – Portland, Oregon:

Redmer Productions in partnership with Recurrence, Inc. has developed a strategic thinking gamulation that Providence St. Joseph Health has deployed across its network of hospitals.  The “player” takes on the roles of Chief Medical Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.  In these roles, the “player” is confronted with the high-level challenges of providing high quality health care to those in need.

Broad challenges include industry progression to mobile and digital health, managing industry-wide burnout and watching healthcare losing touch with its community.  Internal challenges include obstacles to integrating a wide range of hospitals and their EHR systems and autonomy becoming increasingly distributed across a larger organization.

This single-player adventure game focuses on challenging the player to make strategic decisions along the way.  In addition to building up a strategic thinking score, the product also evaluates the style of leadership the player applies.  Players will receive a report at the conclusion outlining various styles of leadership they exhibit like; transformational, directive, authentic, passive, participative, and transactional.

Providence’s future plans call for a series of new modules that touch on a variety of areas of importance within their network of hospitals (they refer to them as “ministries”) across the seven states that they currently service; Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, New Mexico and Texas.
